What is Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)?

Non-destructive testing (NDT) is an analysis technique used to evaluate the qualities of a material, a component or a system without altering it or causing damage to it. It is also commonly known as non-destructive examination (NDE), non-destructive inspection (NDI) and non-destructive evaluation (NDE).

X-ray technology makes it possible

X-ray is one of the most important techniques in non-destructive testing in order to examine manufactured components. This is primarily because x-rays in non-destructive testing does not permanently alter the inspected material, component or system. That is, it does not damage the object in the process of examination. X-rays therefore makes it possible to examine both internal and external factors of an object, making sure that it is built correctly. This makes it possible to locate mistakes in material, components and systems before it is too late. Non-destructive testing is therefore a valuable technique that can save both time and money during examination, troubleshooting, and research.

Industrial computed tomography (CT) is an x-ray computer-aided tomographic process that produces three-dimensional representations of scanned objects. Thus, it provides both internal and external representations of the scanned object. Industrial CT can be used in a variety of areas within many industries for inspection of components. It is used within metrology, for assembly analysis or for flaw detection in situations, where the objects and applications under analysis are not to be damaged. In most applications, microfocus x-ray tubes are needed.

At Magnatek, we provide very stable and reliable x-ray sources and powerful x -ray generators. They can be integrated with most x-ray tube-heads on the market.
